Are your battery terminals clean and tight? Especially if they are not factory style terminals. The cheapie bolt on terminals have caused me tons of grief. First place I go if my car wont charge or start.

It sounds like a bad connection on one of your battery cables. Don't forget that those cables have two ends and both ends have to have a good connection or you're dead.
The negative battery cable connects to a bolt on the side of the block above the oil filter.
The positive battery cable connects to the starter.
14 amps? I doubt it. I think you meant 14 VOLTS.
