trouble with my 84. need help!
We got it timed and it was doing great then a few days later it just wont run right it. it backfires then cuts out for a second and starts back. i have one vacuum hose not hooked up. its the pcv hose. would that have anything to do with it?

Why don't you fix the obvious before posting questions like, "Need help!". Yes, the PCV hose depending on where it is unhooked could cause a major drivability issue. Rather than fussing over that, why don't you fix all the items that you already KNOW are not right, then report back, what is going on, if that action doesn't solve all your issues.

I would think a huge VAC leak. You need to plug that port or attach the PVC lead.
It is an electrical connector that is disconnected when setting initial timing. Then reconnected afterward. No vac advance as controlled by ECU.
When you set the timing did you disconnect the vacuum advance?
