knock sensor ESC fail
I replaced a lot of mods on my 93 back to stock. Tuning now and have some strange knock counts no rhyme or reason, they kinda come and go. I am looking for some possible culprits. If anyone has any ideas it would be great. The knocks retard my timing and losing power. Sometimes at WOT sometimes at idle. Could this be external, something loose on the engine or exhaust? Thanks

The knock sensor is basically a microphone that is tuned to pick up sounds of a certain frequency range. If you have "a lot of mods", like forged pistons, solid lifter cam, etc. the engine can make more noise in the sensitive frequency range and trigger knock events. The solution is a different knock sensor and/or ESC module with less sensitivity or tuned to a different frequency band.
