Default Where to go from here? (Body issues)

So I've been working on my 85 off and on for the past year. Took off the rear bumper to try to get at some lingering body issues, and have discovered this on the drivers side:

What it looks like across the back from the top down:

Other side for comparison:

This wasn't in the carfax

Is this whole piece removable? Would appear it can be, by all the bolts on both sides, but it's not really covered in the FSM, at least not where I can find, and also, should this car be sent off to a frame shop to see if there is anything that needs trued up? This does explain quite a bit with what I've seen in the car, but still need advice on where to start on fixing this issue.

Thanks!

That entire piece can be removed...

Buy one in good condition from a salvage yard and replace it. You'll spend WAY more in time & materials attempting to fix that one, and in the end it still won't be 100% correct.

Good luck...

Hello --

If you decide to replace rather than rebuild, I have these rear support crossmembers. They were removed from new Corvettes being turned into race cars in late '80s, early '90s. Been shelved ever since. Excellent condition. Don't have a clue about what one is worth or how to ship. But if you're interested, I'd gladly work with you.
