I'm guessing you got a 2401 hub but which wheel and how deep of a dish, if any! Momo "retro" wheel, same dish as Vettemed's wheel

Airbag disconnected many years ago- I'm afraid of those early airbags, especially as they age, there have been cases of arbitrary deployment, which likely would result in a crash, just opposite of the intention. My airbag light is also disabled. In '92, only the driver's side had an airbag.

Another upside to this project is a better view of the dashboard.

I'll post the outcome re spacer(s), etc, and photos in a week or two, when complete.

New wheel installed- used the Momo "retro" wheel (360mm) with a 2" spacer. Legroom is increased due to new wheel being slightly smaller than stock and since it is flat with no bulky airbag housing behind it, that helps quite a bit (btw, I'm 6'6"). The total rise of this setup is just about the same as stock, which is 6". As a bonus, view of the dashboard is much better due to the smaller hub.

True to my **** tendencies, I added a tapered ring over the lower end of the new hub so it would cover the end of the column housing, as the 2401 hub is a little smaller diameter than the column. Now, I need some opinions- this wheel came with a trim ring which I can use or not use, to cover the 6 attaching bolts, see photos. So, chime in, CFers, which way do you prefer?

I don't know that I've a preference with or with/out the bezel. Is the button large enough in diameter to accept the early C4 emblem? The wheel and install look good. It's certainly an option.

Looks great! Was the installation straightforward or any tricks or tips needed?

The center hole is about 2 1/8". The horn button originally had a Momo insignia, but I replaced it with the one you see in the photos. There are a bunch of round Corvette and crossed flag emblems available, you would need to check the sizes.

The only part requiring fine tuning was at the top of the column housing. The housing is about 1/4" larger diameter than the 2401 hub, so as I mentioned, I added an overlay to the hub consisting of a 3/4" slice of 4" pvc s&d pipe, cut just where the pipe begins to flare. With minimal sanding inside the slice, it fit over the lower part of the hub. This made the hub fit the column just like the original wheel, with a very slight overlap. Also, at the top inside of the column there are four ribs that have to be trimmed slightly for the new hub to fit, very simple with a Dremel.

Was that the genuine MOMO 2401 adapter that you got from LTB?

Yes. I bought the wheel, the hub, and the spacer from him. After I looked at a bunch of wheels on a bunch of websites, I decided on that combination, and he had the best prices. This is a small operation, with the result that you get personal service from the owner himself. You can talk to him on the phone also, and he was most accommodating. I bought directly from his website, www.ltbautosports.com, because after exchanging communications with him, I did not feel the need to have Ebay guarantee his performance, and therefore I saved him the percentage Ebay takes from vendors.

He did not carry the horn button I used, so I got that elsewhere.

PM me if you want more specifics.
