I am looking for a way to bring the steering wheel on my '92 about 1" or 1½" closer to the driver's seat, to gain some kneeroom. Has anyone out there done this? I'm willing to buy an aftermarket wheel and associated hardware, but can't find any info on the amount of offset, or "dish" that would result. I don't need an airbag in any new setup, but would want to preserve the option of reverting to stock. Or, maybe there is some sort of spacer that would accommodate the stock wheel. Suggestions?
The dish on a '92 C4 steering wheel is considerable. I don't know that I've ever seen one with more! I doubt there's an after-market available with a hub that would equal it let alone increase it by the 1 - 1 1/2" requested.
There are spacers available. I have a Momo wheel with a 20mm spacer, which fairly closely approximates the stock wheel location. There are larger spacers available too.

Where can I find the specs on the adapter & spacer hardware? There is no data on the Grant, Momo, or Sparco sites, and only a little on JEGS. BTW, your stock wheel should be identical to mine, with an airbag. Can you quote which hardware, wheel, etc. you have? Do you have a photo? Thanks.
I would think the preferred method of doing an after-market wheel would be the wheel and a hub kit "only" and I didn't see it being easily accomplished with just those 2 pieces.
Spacers - OK but it seems there's going to be something "lacking" with a required install "fit and finish" wise with anything of the thickness required to move the wheel 1-1 1/2". Turn/dimmer is now a "reach" and probably not a comfortable one.
So a '90 - '93MY steering wheel is something right at 6" "total height", what is the dimension from the steering column shroud to your steering wheel face (straight edge across it)? Yours is assembled with a 20mm spacer I believe you mentioned. It's quite a presentable package!

Measured from the edge of the steering column plastics, to the aft-most extent of the wheel rim, it's about 5.25". A 35mm spacer would probably deliver the closest to stock wheel rim placement you could get. I'm pretty comfortable with the 20mm spacer, though.
It's important to realize that the stock wheel overhangs the steering column plastics by a small amount, if I remember correctly. So, the actual distance from the end of the column plastics to wheel rim may be slightly less than the 6" total height you measured.
It seems both Momo and Nardi do steering wheels with 70 - 90 mm dish so to accomplish the OP's request might not be that difficult. Not every style is available but they do have some. The deeper dish would allow the use of a minimal spacer! How tall is your "hub/adapter"?
Here's some more pics, so you can see the adapter and the spacer when mounted. Please ignore my dirty floor mats (I drive my car!).
The adapter is the wrinkle-finish steel, and rubber bellows, while the spacer is smooth black aluminum.
Nice looking install! Thanks for taking the trouble to take and post the photos! Your setup looks much better than the Grant adapters I have seen, which are too bulky for my taste. I have the stock wheel off for measuring, etc., and the hub is just flush with the lower plastic rim of the wheel. The distance from the end of the hub to the upper edge of the wheel is just 6".
It looks like my goal is doable, even if I need to stack multiple adapters. If I really wanted to get ****, I would cover the stack with a piece of 4" S&D PVC pipe, which is just about 4¼" OD and likely will fit over the adapters. I would either paint it low-gloss black or cover it with black vinyl.
As for your dirty floor mats, mine look the same. I drive my car, too!
I have just received the new MOMO wheel and hub from LTB Autosports. The owner, Louis Boustani, suggested that I get these items and measure the offset to determine the spacer(s) to use. In order to increase the stock offset by about an inch, I'll be using a ½" spacer and a 2" spacer, ordered today. He is a pleasure to deal with and, after shopping around, I could not do better price-wise. I'll post up photos of the finished install when finished.

So I'm guessing here that if you stack a 1/2" and a 2" spacer you are going to need screws long enough to accomplish "the stack". Are those taken into consideration?
I'm guessing you got a 2401 hub but which wheel and how deep of a dish, if any!
