fuel problems
i have a 91 with a carberated 406, the in tank fuel pump went bad so i replaced the pump. it ran fine for one week and started the same thing. at the strip the burn out was ok but at about the 60 ft it was like you turned the gas off ,the car would restart but could not give it gas or the engine would die. so i took the in tank pump and put a in line pump on. i put the new pump in front of the engine on the front cross member and that did not work, the pump would not pull the gas far and it did the same at the track.the fuel pressure would drop to 4psi, the car would run at 4psi but would die when you try to give it more gas. so i put pump just in front of and below the tank. the fuel pressure showed 6psi witch is right for the carb. i went to the track, my first pass was ok but i could feel the car surgring like short of gas, my sec. pass was worse it died on burnout. iam at a loss on what to try next. the pump i put on is a non return but i dont think that would make any difference. the only thing i know is to put on a bigger pump and try that but i dont know if that would be the thing to do or not. any help please
