Daytime Running Lights
I found to procedure for putting a 100 ohm resistor in parallel with the 2 wire photocell, and this makes sense to me. After a weekend of easy repairs taking far to long to complete, I started on this modification. I could not get the sensor above the speedo to pup up like the procedure stated. It was requiring what I thought was too much effort. Maybe I was conservative after a long weekend and afraid to rip the dash pad, but I did not want to break anything.
My question is: has anyone removed this photocell to put the resistor in? If so, what side are the wires on, and what is the best way to get it out? If it is not a good idea to remove this, does anyone know where teh DRL module is and the color of the photocell wires? I could probably put the resistor there and not have to remove the photocell. Any help is appreciated - the repair manual is not here yet!
I used a 4.7k ohm 1/2 watt resistor and just shoved the leads into the existing two wire connectors, taped it in place and replaced the photocell unit.
Be careful that you do not allow the wire bundle to slip back into the hole or you are sunk!
The light switch is now the only means to activate the lights.

It's a little bit hard to get it out. 383 LPE is right, you can get out only the center part. I've noticed that when I took out the whole thing.
It's tricky but I'm sure that You can do it.
To get the whole thing out, do you have to press any tabs to get them to pop through the dash opening without damage? Should I be able to do it with my hands, or do I need to get out screwdrivers? I am just a little leary after this weekend. Thanks to all for the input.
