most of the bushings are completely shot in my car, i need to get new ones but wasnt sure which kit i should pickup... a user on the forums here is selling his mid america kit(which upon further review is the prothane kit), then theres the energy suspension kit, and also the prothane kit (both available at summitracing) . which kit would you guys recommend?
it doesnt matter if they are polyurethane bushings or rubber, im not taking this car to the track, just a daily driver
also im going to be getting the KYB gasajust shocks (i know the bilsteins are better, but i cant afford them right now and would rather have functional shocks)
I got the Prothane bushings and my local shop buggered one of them while pressing them in. I contacted Prothane and explained I needed just one and they shipped me one for FREE. I was very impressed. I have to the think they are both pretty much the same though, don't you think? Anyway, I also did KYBs. My old ones were so bad that these feel pretty awesome. I cannot compare to any others, but my research said they were good shocks. Price was just a tick higher than monroe. They actually increased the ride height about a half inch. Old ones were completely collapsed. My car feels pretty nice. The local Vette specialist said it was the tightest feeling C4 he'd been in recently.
In on responses to this. I have the Prothane kit not installed. My 88 hasn't been driven much before I bought it and the ride seems really nice as it is. But I'm thinking that time, however, may have caused some deterioration to the rubber ones though. Will the poly bushings create a much stiffer ride?
