There are currently over 80,000 more posts on the C5 tech forum then the C4. I know it's a goofy question but why are there more posts. Do they have more technical issues or was C5 forum created before the C4. Could it be that there are more C5 owners registered then C4 owners? I know we out number them in shear volume of cars on the road.
Like I said before it's a dumb qustion but I just thought I'd ask. Hope I don't catch to much flack
P.S. Just to make this a true tech question, at what temp do your cooling fans kick on. Mine turn on at 220 degrees.
and some of them have more MONEY for mods too, that and they dont all know how their car works
:yesnod: :yesnod:
That guy JWScmidt3 or whatever it is told me off one day when I questioned how he makes himself out to be a god in C5 Tech and all he does is hand his credit card over to tuners. C'mon.... how much talent does THAT take? He told me "Go back to Off Topic where you are liked, you are not ready for C5 Tech yet." Oh please, I guess I have to work on my CC sliding technique some more first. :smash:

Hey Scorp, you think Mr. the jw3 whatever, even understands what the tuners do to his car?   Or does he just :U a bunch of :spam ?
Basically because there are more C5 owners here than C4 owners. At the Cruise In, we were over run by C5's, mostly due to some C4 guys backing out at the last minute(do I hear a baaa, baaa?)
They're still cranking out C5's, but the number of C4's decreases every year...
True, but the C4 had a 13 year production with somewhere around 367,000 units made. The C5 has only been in production for 6 years. I have no idea how many have been made but it can't be over 200,000 units. To get the numbers even close almost 8000 C4s would have to be have been totaled every year.
Scorp is the "local historian" so he should be able to find out what the real numbers are. If I remember right the C4 Tech area got started a couple of months after the C5 are did.
The C5s are coming off the line to the tune of about 33,000 a year. Ten years of great economy contributed to a boom in Corvette buying. My Black Book gives me a total of 358,180 C4s built 1984-1996.
C4 guys tend to have less money for mods. We tend to be, as a group, more hands-on, with our older cars, and more willing to turn our own wrenches. This (sometimes false) confidence lends C4 Tech an air of slight desperation. C5 owners ask questions BEFORE their engine is in many small parts around their feet. C4 owners ask questions after the heads are off and they suddenly realize the manual was right - you really DO need tool J1657 to finish the job. :D
Social and economic barriers related to income and education level also suggest that C4 owners are less likely to have an internet connection and actively use it.
Personally, I like to think that we're just more technically competent and quietly mod our cars without posting much more than "Which is the best aftermarket piece for this application? Thanks". Scorp508 just completed a rebuild that John Lingenfelter would have charged $9000-$12000 to do. That's the kind of hobby modding I aspire to. :D
