Default What do i really need ??

I'm a bit confused about the MSD Digital 6.
Ok i need to retard the timing with about 2 degres per 50 hp that's OK
But.......
I can't find the right setup from MSD !!!! (ok i'm stupid what do i really need)
I understand that there might be some kind of problems with the tach meter, how do i tackle this ??
Someone please help me out with the correct setup in understandable words.
I'm due for the strip in a couple of weeks so i'm in a hurry !!!!

  :bb :cry

Finland,

FRom what I gathered reading the installation manual off their website, (RETARD SETUP) you connect the retard wire (pink) to your solonoid wire for your NOS when it sees the 12 volts to your NOS (when your on the juice) it activates the retard in your timing a tthe approriate setting you set. which you would preset from 0 to 9 degrees of retard. This only works from about 2000 rpms up,,,

Your rev limiter is generally setup in your ECM Via your performance chip, however there is also a 2 step or soft rev limiter on the system too. By connecting the Blue wire to 12 volts...(perhaps the NOS solonoid as well you can set up the two stages of your rev limiter which would also be activated when your on the juice...

In terms of your Tach, on the earlier models you simply bypass tach filter with is in the wiring harness of your tach lead ( i beleive its like a capacitor and a resistor), that should resolve your erratic tach operation from the MSD.

I hope this helps,

Mo

Thanks.
I'll go for that.
Any ideas on where exactly the tach filter is located ?

It is bolted behind the drivers side head. A white/tan looking wire that comes out of the tach location on the distributer cap, will run into the tach filter.

On my 90, I removed the tach wire from the distributer for good. I cut the tach wire so the filter was no longer on it, then I used the "TACH out" on the MSD and ran a wire from there, to the cars tach wire where I just cut it off. I have not had a tach problem since.
