I have noticed a lot of people seem partial to the corsa exhaust. I am looking for a mean and loud exhaust note without going with the muffler elims. I am looking for the best sounding exhaust system. I was wondering if there are any reasons to go with one over the other. I have seen the flowmaster as low as $650 and the corsa is around $900.
Any thoughts?
The Corsa is a better looking exhaust system - there's no question about that, but I prefer the sound of the Flowmaster. You can get the Flowmasters from Jegs or Summit Racing for $550 or less - at least I did last year when I got mine for a 95.
I myself have the flowmasters and have had them for 4 years now and I love the tone from them. I have also punched the cat and added full length LPE headers. Combination sounds great. 89' auto, I believe I purchased mine for under 450 from Summit.

I've heard the Corsa's on several Corvettes and to me they sound like the Suppertrap mufflers on motorcycles. They have a very crappy sound, they pop and crackle. The Flowmasters have a nice blub-blub sound and are not to loud when cruising. You can definatly tell the diffrence over stock. Flowmasters are fairly cheap from Summitt aronud $550 for the cat back system. The outlets are diffrent it's a 2+2 type deal instead of the single outlet of the stock exhaust. I think Corsas overrated. If you're not to worried about price check out some of the chambered exhaust systems! They are mean sounding! I would have gone with one of those but never heard one to be sure that's what I wanted. I've had the Flowmasters now for 8 months or so and I also have seen an improvement in gas mileage. I'm up to 22 on the highway versses 18 before.
Sorry my Corsas don't pop and crackle, and sounds far from a Motorcycle unless your talking about a Harley with drag pipes. They sound great with no resonance.
I have the Corsa. I get a lot of crap from friends about my car sounding like a truck. Back when I had the stock manifolds and cats it wasn't that loud, even at WOT. Now that I have headers and no cats, it is extremely loud at WOT, but still no resonance on the highway. I do get a lot of pop and crackle.
The bottom line is not everyone likes the sound of my car, but I do. I wouldn't mind if it were a deeper rumble, but it is loud enough. I do love it and recommend it. The straight thru design probably gives it the largest horsepower increase of any system, although I am sure that people will argue that point.
The ease of installation is incredible. Everything fit together like it was suppposed to. This was a true bolt on, no fitting or special tools required.
If you want it loud all the time, go Power Effects or B&B Triflo. The reason these guys like Corsa so much is that they have good looks, good sound, and NO resonance. I much prefer sound.

Re: corsa or flowmaster (corvette0096)
I have heared the Corsa on a 90 ZR1 with headers and No cats and I have to admit it sounds tough. :yesnod:
Thanks Rich. I love the sound I get. And still no interior resonance when cruising. I would hate to hear how the Borla I used to have sounded with the open headers.
