I live in Galveston TX and need to find someone in the area who is very knowlegable about the 1985 C4s. Car will start, but dies as soon as you touch the gas. If anyone knows anyone, please let me know. The car once belonged to Sami from Atlanta. The engine and trannie were built by Pete K. so I am confident the problem is relatively minor. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Reason: left out "area"
Thanks for the suggestion Caddyboy84. That does make sense but for awhile I could start it and it would idle around 1200 rpms and seemed to be getting strong and even flow from both exhaust. I'm really hoping to find someone close to Galveston, that is good with C4s to check it out. Once again, I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Hi there
The throttle position sensor lets the ecm know how much the accelerator is depressed, you should have 0.54 volts dc on the top and middle wires.
Wide open throttle should be around 4.5 volts dc so check that too.
A good thing to do is disconnect and reconnect your battery, if the ecm sees a fault it will compensate for it.
You can always try disconnecting the TPS sensor wire connector (with ignition off) then start the car, the car will then use a default value to get it home see if there is any improvement. You also need to check your fuel pressure (should be around 30-39 psi) You can also try disconnecting the mass airflow sensor, that will help to narrow down the problem.
