It's either the right part or not. If you install it and it works it's the right part. You do not get to test used parts and then decide if you want it. You owe him nothing.

some used parts fall into the "what you see is what you gets" catagory... like a used bumper for instance...other used parts fall into "you pay your money and takes your chance" . I'd say an used DMF definitely falls in the later catagory. The buyer decided to take a chance on a used part...and came up short. It happens.

Used parts are warrantied a lot like some performance parts.

5 miles or 5 seconds. Whichever comes first.

There's always an assumed risk when buying used parts. He should have known this.

You offered a used part for sale.

The buyer wanted it. The buyer checked it out using a mechanic. The buyer installed it.

Now there is a problem.

Its not your problem.

I will have to say as an addition to this conversation. It does not matter how new or good the duel mass flywheel is. If the engine is running even slightly rough. The flywheel will knock and clunk like a maniac. I have been there done that from problem injectors.
