Default Throttle Body Size?

How do I determine the size of a throttle body? Is it as simple as measuring the diameter of the bore and converting it to milli-meters? I got a package deal on a SuperRam & throttle body. Now I'm trying to determine the size of the throttle body.
Thanks,
Glassman89

It appears I have a stock 50mm unit :( Guess it's time to start shopping. Any thoughts on Holley vs Edelbrock vs BBK?

stock is 48mm, i would go to a 52mm with the SR and a 58mm if you have an SR to go on a 383-396+

Theyre all ok, but some people dislike the quality of the BBK

Glassman89,

I didn't see your 'signature' included, so I'm assuming you have very few mods done to your engine.
That being said, if I were you, before purchasing a 'throttle body' just to purchase a throttle body...why not take a step or two back.
Think about where you're heading with this car?
Are you planning lots of mods in the future?
Take some time, and write the mods you want to accomplish on a sheet of paper versus what, if any mods you've already done.

In other words...it would make no sense whatsoever, to purchase a 52mm
throttle body tomorrow, only to find out a few months from now...what you should have bought was a 58mm.

Plan your goals for you car, and stick to it. (that's half the fun to me).
Have a plan, and you'll save lots of money and work in the long run.

Good Luck!!

Yes I agree with the "planned" approach. I am about to bolt on: SuperRam, TPIS Big Mouth Manifold, 74219 cam (lifters, springs, etc). The bottom end will be staying stock. Headers are 3-6 months out. Sounds like I need the 52mm. I don't understand this 50.8mm unit sitting beside me. I wonder if it is one of those exchange/bored out units?
