I turned on the delco-bose stereo in my 1986 coupe tonight and a loud, high pitch tone came out of the speakers. I turned it off and tried again but the sound came back. I tried it again later and the same result.
Since the sound was loud I was thinking that it might have something to do with the relay. Perhaps I am wrong.
Sounds like one or more of your amps have given up the ghost. Mine sounded the same, and another time had a loud popping noise coming out of one of them. Alot of forum members have gotten rid of their Bose systems but I like mine so I used Ecklers refurbishing service and was satisfied with them. Try and determine exactly which speaker the noise is coming from and go from there.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Same thing happened to me a few years back. Turned out to be the Bose relay located center dash panel in back of the info center.
