So it seems Dynamo had a very similar problem so I'll go out today and see what I can find with the sockets and go from there
yeah if the sockets for the signals and cornering lights seem fine, follow the wires from the sockets through through the engine compartment to see if any of them somehow shorted to ground... im not too sure after that, i was thinking it could have even by my signal switch in the steering wheel, which is apparently a PITA to change

this is my old thread about the problem... has some useful wiring diagrams

Just tested left front marker light. Kind of odd results. I'm guessing the tab near the top of the socket is the ground terminal, and the contact in the bottom of the socket is voltage. Is this correct?
When I check continuity from the top connector to ground at the battery or frame, there's none, but there's 12V! When I check for 12V or ground at the bottom connector there's none.
Same results when I hook up the negative terminal at the battery, and turn on just the tail/parking lights.
Now, when I depress the brake pedal, I loose the 12V at the top connector, and get 12V on the bottom connector!
There has to be a short somewhere. I'm going to keep checking the light and break wiring.
I guess the big question is why is there 12 V on any connector with the key and light switch off?

Is this correct? If it's a standard-type, push-and-turn-to-install, the entire socket is the ground. Is this an 1157 or 1034 bulb? If so, there are two filaments and two contacts on the bottom, one for parking and one for turn/hazard.

Take it one wire at a time. You will find the culprit.

Hey everyone I just wanted to give a quick update. After a bunch of testing and looking further I found my turn signal flasher behind the passenger side middle dash. The outside of the flasher looked "burnt". Took a trip to Napa and bought a heavy duty flasher, installed it, it fixed both my turn signals so they actually work and my tail light fuse does not blow when I use the signals.

Thanks all for the info and help!

A problem with an electrical circuit almost always has a simple root cause. Thanks for posting back with your results.
