Re: Airpockets in coolant..... (Husker Vette)
Remove pressure cap, turn heater on full hot, and start engine. Run up to operating temperature, you can tell by temp guage and coolant movement in radiator. Don't let the engine overheat with the pressure cap off as it provides most of the boil over protection.
When coolant is moving (thermostat is open) have an assistant move throttle to about 1500 to 2000 rpm. Coolant level will drop. Add new coolant mix (50/50 or what ever) to top up. Keep engine speed up to make sure it stays at that level. Do final top up and install pressure cap.
Make sure overflow system is totally sealed, pressure cap works (get new) and no leaks in the system.
Never let overflow tank go low, keep level to at least "full cold". In 200 miles you will need to top up the pressure tank as more air escapes. At this point remove pressure cap and check radiator level, it should overflow. If not top up and watch level. If level is stable = Good. If level keeps going down find leaks.
