I've got my new PCM (95 LT-1), do I have to transfer any information from the old one before I install it? and if so how?
I took the cover off and switched the chip......everything looks ok.....displays mileage and everything else, but, engine cranks but will not fire.
Is the prom chip properly seated ? On my ZR-1 it had two notches on one side and one on the other so there was no way to install it backwards.
Well, if you can switch the old one back in and it works, you obviously know how to seat the chips. This would lead you to suspect the new chip is just not working. Have you contacted the chips manufacturer to get it replaced or to see if there are any 'special' things you have to do to make it work?

It's a 95, so the chip only stores the mileage data, the PCM has the RAM that holds the program so I guess I need to know how to "burn" the data into the new PCM, PLEASE don't tell me this is a dealer thing :mad
Also, it is my understanding that only a dealership can swap out CCM's because of some match that has to be performed before a new CCM can be mated to a(n) ECM/PCM to prevent mileage tampering.
Reprogramming mileage to a new unit is done with a Tech1a and a special mass storage cartridge. The new unit will "lock in" if nothing is done after 100 miles. Believe a sticker is supposed to be used stating another unit has been installed. Not sure on that.
