Finishing up my "Corveep" project, to pull the key out I have to push in a " cable back drive pin" Is there an external lever on the outside of the column, or is it operated off the stock shifter?
It's not a C4, but has the heart and other parts of one..
Background vehicle info: 87 Jeep Wrangler with 96 corvette LT1 w/ matching 4l60e, 96' vette steering column, engine and dash harness, gauges, DIC and headlight switch.
The ignition key cylinder has a cable that goes down to the shifter. The original setup is such that you can't take the key out unless the transmission is in Park. The ignition key cylinder rotates one more position past OFF to the key-out position.
You need to rig up something to make it think the trans is in Park.
Thanks, that's what I thought, lucky enough I'll be able to fab a lever at the top left side of the column to release the key...just need to make it pretty...

I believe if you had used an M6 column you would have the release built into the ignition switch. Is the column modified dramatically or used pretty much as removed for the install? I would think that it's likely that if you used the M6 ignition cylinder you could use the release to rotate to lock. Are you using VATS?
The ACDelco # is D1453C and is pricey. The ACD image is poor.
That I believe might accomplish what you'd like it to do. I'd need to check the details of the columns for a sure fit. I've never needed to accomplish what you want to accomplish. It would certainly be a finished product. If this interests you PM me and I'll check column details. I believe the simple cylinder will do it and you can leave probably the rest of the column functions as is. If it needed parts it would be I believe just the upper bowl which I might have or should be easily salvaged from a column that needs more work.
I'm away from home on a very slow and restricted network I wasn't able to check more than the first few pages of your "build"! Interesting "dollies"! I'll check the rest of the build thread when I get home! Hell of a job there guy!!!!
