coolant temp guage not working

coolant temp guage not working
my 89 c4 overheated so i changed t. stat ,then coolant guage(digital) stayed on LO so changed coolant sensor with new gm one. still nothing so i hooked grnd to black wire(plug has black and white wires) from battery nothing again. any ideas thanks

isn't 89 coolant gauge sensor located between 6 and 8 plugs, in head? or are you changing CTS? if CTS, the black is the ground for ecm, on 91 coolant temp gauge sender has one green wire.

thanks joe for the info. i know the sensor your talking about (its on driver side just under head about centre right?) with 1 green wire . ill check that out ,thanks again stu.

stu, not sure where it is on 89. on 91 it is pass side, rear, in heard, above 6 and 8 plug holes. I belive it was same back to 86. may be a fan switch you refer to.
