Default Is this Normal at first start up?

Hi all,
I am putting the finishing touches on my motor and about ready to crank it for the 1st time. I installed a fresh set of the Bosch EV6 30LBS injectors and a WALBRO 255 fuelpump, and the adjsutable regulator and diaphram from Ecklers . We turned the key a few times to prime the injectors and push air out of the system. We can hear the pump come on for about 1 1/2 seconds and here the fueld coming up to the rails. No leaks anywhere as I have checked everywhere including at the tank. I turned the key off and then back on a few times still trying to push air out of the system. I then put a guage on the schrader valve just to see where the out of the box setting was on the regulator. It shows the system presserizes at 30LBS and then it slowly bleeds back down to near zero. I figured this would happen as we have not tried to adjust ito 47 or so yet. This is where my real question is. Should the pressure drop like that once the system pressurizes? the guage reads at 30 then goes down very slowly and then goes back to zero.

We the checked the tank by crimping off the fuel return line at the tank and it still does the same thing. We are going to try to start it tommorow after we get the distributor in set timing.

Sorry for leaving that out..... It drops to zero in about a minute or so.

That is generally too quickly. If everything is working properly it should hold pressure for longer than a minute. Takes over an hour on my T/A.

I thought so. I was just reading some other posts that dealt with pressure drop. Could it be the pulsator in the tank? check ball ? I called John at FIC and he said I must still have air in the system, and will until the injectors sprays and the engine is turned over. I am not sure which way to go on this one.

Another question is the placing of these injectors in the rails. We put the stock retainer clips back on becuase these were actually shorter than the stock ones and seemed to not seat snug enough in the bores. Should I leave these on or take them off?

Yes the pursator could leak. The pulsator is unnecessary, I replace it with fuel injector hose. The fuel system is a loop that dumps back into the tank. Unless you are suggesting there is air trapped in the injectors themselves, the air should be flushed from the system when the pump is run.

I don't like to use retainer clips on the TPI rails (I don't use them on my SFI turbo rail either), as long as the rail is bolted down they shouldn't go anywhere. You only need to watch closely around the o-rings to make sure they aren't leaking the first time you fire up. (Pinching an o-ring will cause a leak.)

Racetronix provides a replacement with their kits. I never measured.

We are pulling the pump today and will replace it with the hose. Just an FYI NAPA has this and in it comes in 1 5/16 in dia. foot sections. I am hoping this is the issue and not the pump or FPR. I still have the OEM FP and FPR to verify as back up in case its not the pulsator.

Hi

Make sure the hose you use is suitable for being submerged in gas, normal injection hose isn't and the outer layers will dissolve.
