i recently been haveing issues with my tpi set up on my s10 conversion im ready to give up on it i did the install about 8 years ago never had an issue untill about a year ago its a stock tpi speed density set up i useing the weatherproof computer out of a corvette 7727 the issue im haveing is when its idleing it runs perfect or under heavy acceleration it runs perfect its when im decelerating and go to a stop the idle goes up about 500 rpms and i get this really foul smell and when i go to accelerate it breaks up bad im stumped on this one i have great fuel pressure i just replaced the injectors new tps sensor new iac new throttle body im stumped please help
anytime there is a surge in idle you should suspect a vac leak. Air leaks in SD systems are the kiss of death to the tune since the system is reading the plenum vac for a measurment of how much fuel. The smallest vac leak can throw that off and cause the computer to make wild swings in its AFR...
The system not being as sensitive as MAF and being a bit more prone to less precision is why they are not common. They were the simple solution to the complex AFR ratio but they were just too vague and not precise enough to keep up with emissions ever changing standards.
