Default Inexpensive upgrades

I own a completely stock 95 convertible w/automatic, LT1. I'm curious about inexpensive engine upgrades that will give performance w/o hurting fuel consumption or reliability as an everyday car.
Also worth mentioning...the car seems to idle just a little rough lately...when I drive it hard it seems fine though?

idle being rough could just be the IAC is dirty

Standard stuff is a throttle body bypass, where you remove the coolant lines to the TB and mate them together

K&N air filter, and cut open the air lid

Idle problem could be first signal that you need new plugs and wires. This is a cheap "mod" that can really make a difference.

For real mods consider roller rockers (~12HP) and electric water pump (~8-10HP). Neither hurts drivability, reliability or mileage.

Roller Rockers are small see-saw type things that sit on top of the heads.

In this picture they are the orange things at the end of the pushrods.

Actually "rockers" sit on the heads, roller rockers have a bearing in them that produces less friction then non roller rockers and allow the engine to produce more power as a result of having to overcome less friction.

RR sit on the pushrods and rock in unison pushing down on the valve springs, theyre worth it for less friction

Meziere makes the best electric water pumps, look up Summit Racing and order their catalog

Get your intake bolts and throttle body retorqued also. They loosen over time and cause vacuum leaks. You'll be amazed how much the throttle response improves with tight bolts. You could have the intake ports and head ports gasket matched. A K&N air filter might help a bit too.
