After replacing a few things and just now I replaced the Check valve on the brake booster. After replacing the valve I went for a drive and my vette stalled, but didn't throw a code. The check engine light came on but didn't give a code. This happened before and it was a MAF code. So I let the motor idle in park and unplugged the MAF, and the idle went from 1000 to around 650. I plugged the MAF back in and the car is running fine now, I am idling in park anywhere from 590 to 650. I don't know if I reset the MAF readings or what. I have never heard of resetting the MAF before. Is there such a thing?
... I have never heard of resetting the MAF before. Is there such a thing?
great to hear you found the problem... however to my knowledge you cannot "reset" a MAF. the closest you can come to is resetting the BLM's. early C4 may have minimum TPS "learning" capability, but not entirely sure.
check the MAF connector for anything that might hint at a loose connection (loose terminals, crap on the terminals, etc...)
Yeah, the MAF connector is kinda odd. 5 pins in a really small amount of space. Lots of movement up there too from engine torquing. I would say it was just a bad connection. I'm gonna stick with that story until you post the same problem again :D
If it happens again, take a screwdriver handle and give the MAF a light but prominent tap. If the idle speed changes again, it could be time for a new MAF
My 91 seems to do the same thing. It only stalls when I let off the gas, and only sometimes then. Everything else seems fine. I don't have MAF, it's MAP, speed density. I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the IAV valve with no luck.
EGR valve maybe? The computer threw a code 32 about a week ago, but it hasn't come back yet. When I shut off the car, there is a hissing noise from the engine bay, not sure from what. Vacum leak maybe?
