Default Having problems with the deck opening on a vert.

When I push the button for the deck to raise to retract the convertible top, the passenger side seems to get stuck. It takes 4-5 pushes of the button to get it to open. Is there something that needs to be adjusted or lubricated?

Had the same thing on my 87. I tried making an adjustment but the old plastic adjuster was brittle and it broke. Had to use my hand to reach under and pull the cable to open it for a couple of weeks. Seems like it was about 40 bucks from the dealer but if have seen them cheaper since then. :)

After reading about the guy who had to saw his J-hook off to open the hatch, I took a close look at mine...My passenger J-hook was just hanging on the two nuts; they weren't even hand tight!

Tightened them down; works much better now. Lid sits flat now, too.

I went over all the screws & nuts; a *lot* were loose...Makes me wonder about the rest of the car...

...Ya have to kinda lay on your side on the console, with a 13mm socket, 12" extension, and ratchet; and stick your head in the hatch area, and eyeball where the J-hook is in relation to the latch...And try to center it...With the top up but not latched down...have someone hold it for you so you can test the engagement...

I'm happy with the way mine turned out...

I'd hate to have it spring open just as I was passing a tractor-trailer...
