Sending unit on Drivers side head???
I noticed today that the wire was off the sending unit on the head btwn 1 and 3 plugs. Can anyone advise what this is for? I am thinking it is a water jacket. I am only guessing. I did look in my Haynes manual and did not see this listed anywhere. The car ran fine till I saw it, But it could have just came off while I parking in the drive way.
The service engine light did not come on so that is why I may think it just fell off when I parked. The plastic that secures it on the sending unit is so brittle. I was touching the plastic and it was just crumbling.
I put some RTV Black on it to see if it will keep it secure to the sending unit. I am going to let it dry over night before I drive it. I started the engine after placing it back on and it ran do different then before I noticed it off. Thanks in advance.

I always thought the sensor on the drivers side was for the ECM to read water temp and that the one on the other head was for actuating the fan ( in addition to the ECM fan control).

Thanks everybody for the info, I guess it is safe to say that it is the aux. fan switch. I was hoping it may the reason my engine runs really rough and surging. I know the fans work because I have a aftermarket switch installed for the track and when I am in traffic. Thanks agin to everyone for the help.
