I replaced the clutch, TO bearing, PP, pilot bushing and flywheel about 4k miles ago -stock type everything. My TO bearing was bad and the car had 88k miles, so decided to get everything fresh as long as I had the trans out.
Now I have started to get a "growl/ squeek" once in a while, as I let the clutch out, just before it engages. Once in a while it makes the same noise when I hold the clutch in -and then I let off and push it in again and it goes away.
What am I going to have fix now?
Are you 100% sure the TO bearing was installed correctly onto fork ?
I hope so, but, is it possible to see it through the side with the rubber boot and slave removed?
Would it have worked this long if not installed correctly?
If it is installed wrong, will it be damaged?
Lastly, if it is wrong, will I be able to take the fork off and engage it correctly without removing the transmission?
Thanks,
Glen
Fork won't come out without removing the trans. If it is wrong, you can see it if you remove the boot on the fork.
Well, it did'nt do it over the weekend, so I was working on some other projects. If it is installed wrong, would it only do this intermitently?
When I remove the boot and look in, what will "wrong" look like. I think that the clutch kit that I used was a RAM stock replacement -it had everything and I do remember that there was a diagram on a separate sheet on this subject -so I can't believe that I would have done this step wrong ...but who knows.
Pull the boot and use a mirror and flashlight to look at fork to ball stud and fork to bearing.
Look to see if fork is properly sitting on ball stud and both fingers are behind ball.
Look to see if fork's fingers are sitting between shoulders of TO bearing.
