ive had a 1985 sitting in a lot for about 2 years. i figured i should go out and start it so we replaced the battery and added new fuel. after that we were unable to start it but it was only cranking so i went and put fuel directly into the carb and it started to turn over but then it stopped. i was looking at the theft systems online for it but the internet doesnt tell u that much. in the center the security light has been on ever since we put the battery in. so i dont know what to do. and ideas?
The first thing you do is recover the error codes which will likely tell you where to look further. Clearly you have no fuel getting to the injectors or you have fuel getting there but the injectors are not being pulsed. First check the two injector fuses with an ohmeter (it has better vision than you do). Next measure the fuel pressure, you may have a defective fuel pump. Next buy a noid light and during cranking see if your injectors are being pulsed.
Never ever let a car sit for two years without starting the engine and moving the car periodically, all kinds of bad things happen to every system when they just sit.
