The wipers on my 1996 won't shut off and go to home. All other wiper functions work. Only way to make them shut off is to turn wiper switch to off, and then turn ignition switch off and then back on. At that point the wipers will return home and shut off.
Any ideas?
aINT HARD TO CHANGE WIPER MOTORS and can buy one for under 50 bucks..thing is...when you bring your hand out of the holes where the bolts go..loos like your hand has been in a pond full of sharks..mine looked a bit bloody.
According to the FSM it is probably a faulty Park Switch in the Wiper Motor Assembly.
I thought I remembered reading the switch is on a plate assembly and it is a replaceable part. I think you can do it with the motor still mounted. I would at least check it out, it may be cheaper and simpler.
well heck, just uploaded 4 pics of wiper motor parts and cant get them from photobucket to here. Tools needed to change out the wiper motor,,#20 Torx (for the cover), 1/2 wrench (nut that holds wiper crank to motor), 10mm socket with a wobble and a short extension( 3/8 drive)(about 3 inch or so).I believe a #20 also is used to remove, 4 screws ,screen at base of winshield. cuss words and beer. A flat tipped screrw driver helps in removing the electrical clips. (3 clips). If you want to remove the wiper arms themselves, you need a flat tipped driver for the little wedgey thingys. oops..a #10 torx for the screen...
