Default Here I go again......

Guys,

I am going to a spped shop this afternoon for a dyno analyses of my car. While speeking with the guy I mentioned my intent to possible get a 383 this winter built up. He said his shop is very familiar with the setups and wanted to know if I would like him to quote the job. Hey why not.

Upon talking to him today he said he started the quote, but while speaking with a friend at Callies they said that the 396 setup they have is unreal. They gave him the specifics and said this is the way to go. I had that in the back of my mind, but thought a 383 is a more proven setup, so dismissed it.

With the setup I told him I wanted quality parts and forged is a must. In the even nitrous is wanted. He gave me the parts he wanted to use per Callies recommendation. They are as follows:

Callies 3.875 Dragon Slayer Crank
Oliver 5.850 Connecting Rods
SRP forged pistons with 14cc reliefs
Cranes 240 244 110 lsa ground to 112 for more streetability. With 1.5 RR it would have .558 int/exh with 1.6 closer to .600

He explained that Callies said they were getting insain power from these setups. Easily into the mid 600s. Does this sound accurate. He said for all the above items, it would be $2650 for just parts. He said he could get me a 4 bolt main block for $150 bucks!

The price seemed very reasonable. Compression would be just a hair under 11:1 with my 190 AFR heads. He also said Callies thought the heads should be sufficient. He gave some other details, but I couldn't write that quick. Tonight I will get a more formalized quote, along with a price for assembly.

Give me your thoughts on the setup. Any questions I should ask him. He did say that there is no warrenty when I asked. He said that he knows the engine will be raced and he will not warrenty race engines?? Thats kinda spooky. But he did say that if anything should happen to it right away that he would definately not turn his back on me.

Let me know. Anyone with a similiar setup let me know what kind of power your getting.

Thanks

If thats a roller cam spec at .050", yes, 600 is possible...you need more injector, and you need more gear, and you need more traction.
