hi gang,
i have a 93 that has new rims and tires on the front, but that has caused my speedometer to be inaccurate. any ideas on the remedy would be appreciated :)
Re: speedo wrong-how can i fix it? (republicanhunk)
Now you got me confused!
I did a gear swap on my '93, there are some plastic gears in teh rear of the tranny that can correct the speedo. But if you just did a tire swap, it can't be off by that much unless you went with taller tires. Also the front ones shouldn't affect it at all. Your tire sensors for the ABS and ASR may be off due to uneven tire sizes.
actually, i bought the car not that long ago, and i had assumed they just swapped the rims etc. i knew the gear change was a possibility, but the person i bought it from didnt know. i have seen those lists of speeds depending on the tire size and gear, but know i have no idea, except to just shadow someone :) thanks for the help!

Get on I 65 and head north past the construction. Set cruise control at 60 MPH and have a buddy with a stopwatch time in between 5 mile markers. That would be the quickest way to check.

Over here in Ohio the police use fixed radar machines that display your actual speed for auditing driving speeds on certain roads. They are not used for giving tickets but just for auditing purposes. You could probably call your local police department and see if there are any of these in your area.
By the way, I hope you didn't purchase your car from Ideal Corvette over there in Indy. If so, good luck.
