you sure the battery has enough "juice"? tried to charge it or jump it? Turn on your headlights and try to start it...if the lights go out..the battery needs charging or replacing...if they stay bright or dim slightly..the problem is futher down the line.next in line of course, is the starter or bendix..which is on the starter anyway. I understand htere is a common problem with the "key chip". but dont know much about that, others will have to chime in on that.
If you have enough battery power, and all of the connections, terminals, grounds, and starter(connections), are good. Then you have a problem with the starter solinoid. That would be the clicking you hear, but it is not engaging the starter motor to turn the flywheel. This would be my first guess.

yes, tha battery did need a charge. I switched to my spare battery
