Default Alternator question

If you install a higher output (amp) alternator, do you need to make any mods to the system to allow for the higher amps? Or does the system make its own allowances for the change?

Agree, there should be no mods....the alternator just has the abillity to put out more amps and it will run cooler under load. It will do a better job in charging the batt and running all the applicances at the same time. such as new stereo amp that may draw big time on the system, especially at an idle. The only time you need to increase the wire size from the alt to bat is if your running an number 14 or 16...the line from the amp to system is a number 10 wire or bigger on a vette so your home free.
