Hi, my 94 coupe has a 16 pin OBD socket, I realise that its likely to be OBD1 because of its age but am I right in thinking a 16 pin OBD11 reader will work on it?
If so can anyone recommend a good reasonably priced reader, Im in Britain so something through ebay or Amazon would be ok.
Has a 16 pin OBDII style connector but is still OBDI
What do you want to do; only display the error codes or datalog /tune the engine?
basically error codes, I know I could go down the" jamming a paper clip in it" road but when working on my cars or bikes I prefer using the proper tools for the job
I could go down the" jamming a paper clip in it .... I prefer using the proper tools for the job
Is the factory designed / approved method that gives you a visual display of all the various modules and their codes in the speedo display without the use of a aftermarket device
If you are worried about using a paperclip then IIRC there are diagnostic plugs available that have the required jumper built in so you just insert the plug into the ALDL socket to make the codes display.
the only compututer is a tech master one, the paper clip will bring up all codes. you can clear old ones that have been stored as well. but the scanner machine at a shop is a tech master one. ive had trouble myself. good luck
NO a OBDII code reader will not read the codes. However, many scan tools will read them. Not just a Tech 1 or MasterTech. My OTC Nemisys reads my buddies 94 just fine. Codes, engine data, ABS, CCM, AIR Bag, etc....
Thank you soo much, really because just to find out that your not alone and others may know something to further your knowledge hence save $$$ is a beautiful thing. All the people in here well.....lol most are freaking awesome,
Ty again
