Default C4 1996 cruise control module

I'm installing a 1996 Corvette cruise control module on my 1986 Corvette. I need the wiring diagram for the module to know where to attach the wires. Any help would be appreciated. My questions involve the black/white, gray, green/white and blue/black wires.

Here's the schematic from a 95 service manual. The 96 is probably the same.

Thanks for the wiring diagrams. I matched up all the wires except for the green and green/wht wires on my pigtail. It looks like the pigtail I got from e-bay is different than that in the diagrams with respect to the VSS signal and the electronic transmissin scheduling output. The VSS pulse on the 86 has two wires while the 95 diagram has only one wire DR GN/Wht. The 96 has a wire for the electronic transmission and the 86 does not have any such wire. From the colors of the wires on my pigtail, it looks like the DRK GRN/WHT wire would go to one side of the transmission signal and the DRK GRN wire to the other side of the transmission signal and cross my fingers that it won't blow up the modual when I turn it on. The black/white wire has a component in line that looks like a diode. I can use information on this component also. I would appreciate any additional information that you can be provided.

Hi, The person I bought the CC Module from is sending me the original pigtail which is different than the one I bought on e-bay. This should resolve some issues. I could use diagrams for the vehicle speed sensor, the powertrain control module and the ground distribution system for the 95-96. This will help me resolve the remaining issues. Thanks again.

Hi, There is a P101 component in the Drk Green/Blk wire to the VSS signal and the Wht Blk ground wire to the CC Module. This could be a diod. Do I need to install these? I would appreciate identification of this component so I can purchase it if I need to install it. Probably should install them to be safe. Thanks again.

P101 is a pass thru grommet. Indicates the wire goes thru a panel.

Example a wire goes from the engine compartment into
the cars interior.

The VSS signal takes a different path in the earlier vs. the later cars. In the early cars the VSS signal goes to the dash first, then on to the cruise control and ECM. In later cars the VSS signal goes to the ECM first, then to the dash. There is some kind of signal conditioning going on there, with shaping the ragged signal from the VSS (sort of a rough sine wave) into a square wave. I'm not familiar with the details, so that's all the info I have to offer.

There is also a difference in the number of pulses per mile from the VSS in early vs. later cars (2000 vs. 4000).

Hi, Thanks for all the help. I always thought the VSS signal came from the engine. On my 86 C4, the signal comes straight from the transmission to the instrament panel. There are two wires. I noticed that the late C4's only have one wire so the purple wire is grounded. On my C4, there is a switch in the IP that grounds the puirple wire. The pulse on my car is 4000. I plan to connect the yellow wire that comes from the transmission to both the IP and the cruise control module. I think it will work because the module will get its ground from the module ground. I'll see what happens and will test it first. Thanks for the gromet info. My 86 book does not show gromets. Don't know why they would give a gromet a number? Just waiting for the original connector to the module and then I'm ready to start the installation. Will report the outcome. Thanks again.

Hi, The opperation was a success. The cruise control works great with the new module. It's more responsive than with the dash control. After I was just about finish with the installation, I found that the brake switch was not functioning. I think the dash CC is still good so I took the wires out so I can go back to it without pulling the instrument cluster out. Anyone having problems with their CC should check the brake switch. I'm having a problem finding replacement bulbs for the instrument cluster. The bulbs look like the standard mini bulbs but they have two bayonets sticking out. RadioShack has similar bulbs in 10w and 50w but these bulbs are halagon. I'm wondering if the original bulbs were halogon. Maybe I should get the original bulbs from Chevy. Appreciate any help you can provide. I looked on EBay without success. Thanks
