It's a quite common failure for that style of pump so it's certainly something that could come back around and it was a "reman" correct? How long has it been installed?

autozone just said they will replace it, but I have to pay for one now, and they will refund me when I return the old pump.

That's rather amazing - but then again "AZ I guess will if they weren't be the first choice" for parts. I hadn't seen the 7 year response you posted. I believe they've changed their replacement warranties with either a stated 1 year or an optional longer for premium products or a paid for option.

You've done well !!!!!

Was the pump you originally got from AZ a "rebuilt" pump or a "remanufactured" pump? Rebuilds are typically units that have only the worn out/bad parts replaced. Remans typically get all new parts, including the shaft.

I would suggest that you look at AC Delco for a reman pump or get a really good pump from Turn One.

He got "7 years" from the AZ purchase! For a "driver" I'd say there's no real good reason to go any further into the market. ACD is a "competitive" product these days - there's little added value in the line. An ACD reman is from a "vendor" not done for ACD to ACD specs!

I have one of those (broken and on the shelf) that they would not warranty. I replaced it with one from Autozone (re manufactured) with a lifetime warranty (1 time replacement to original owner) has functioned great now for a whole season of autocross, 2-driver car with a LOT of autocrosses on it!

My "Turn One" pump lasted about one year, with the new extra cost aluminum housing. It now functions as an expensive paperweight.

I'll give a big "thumbs up" for the Autozone Re-man. unit

Not sure, it stopped adding assist, yet did not leak externally. I removed the pressure line and the big nut under it to access the pressure control valve, and it moved freely, so it wasn't stuck or anything. Put it back together, and same condition (hard steering, as in NO power assist)

Autozone re-man unit works great!

AC-delco is just a rebuilt pump, by some out-sourced company in Mexico. There are NO new pumps, or new parts available for the LT1 pumps.

Interesting. I was going through re-man pumps like candy, most likely due to extended high rpm use on road courses. Switched to a Turn One pump and it has run for years without issue. I still lived in St. Louis when I made the switch, so that would be over 6 years ago.
