cool start problema with my 86
hi i finaly get all my cylinder going and working
but the cool start problem is drivin me crazy .
to start the car i Have to give some gas . not to much. just to keep the rpms above 10,000 for about 5 minutes intro hot .if i take my foot out of the gas before the car is hot the engine will stop running .
after the 5 minutes has pass when the engine is hot the car will run find
i did set the tps to spec but is imposible to set the correct timing
any advice welcome
the timing now is about 11 or12 btdc . if i set the correct timing. the car will never start
any sugestions

Try swapping out the temp sensor, sounds like the problem. Could also be stiky idle control valve, but this would also be bad after warm up. When you give throttle then let off, it will drop to where it almost dies, then back to 12-15 hundred, and will float like that a couple times before settling down. I would start with a temp sensor first. h

update on my cool start problem.
In other post i mention i set my tps to the factory spec. 0.54 on idle and 4.5 at wot.
I decided to put back the tps they way it was before. lucky me, i had an old picture of the engine where I can see the tps, so i figure out the position it was before.
after seting the tps to the old position, the car work much better no more cool start problems.
later i will try to set timing to 6 btdc.
what i dont undestad is . that if i set the tps to factory spec. the car not running good, but if i move the tps to the old position it work ok.
i have to say that the tps position now is move allthe way conter clock,wise. dont know how much is mesuring in volts
