Finding a set of R12 gauges new might be hard and I don’t know the cost factor. But you might try a pawn shop to see if you can find a GOOD set of R12 gauges in nice shape (about $20 ?). You might need to get an adaptor hose to connect between a can of R12 and the gauges. The long yellow hose usually goes on the 30 lb cans. That woud be the small can adaptor to get the Freon out that which is part of the short hose.
All in all it sounds like you are low on Freon. The next consideration is if you had any leaks. Not good for the seals to sit and the system not to be run. If you lose R12 it can get expensive. Not to load you up to much, but you can buy a nice leak detector from Harbor Freight. Don’t buy a used one, if they don’t work proper they are useless. The sensor head is the important pieces and a used one is an unknown factor.
Ok so.... a little update on my ac problems... I changed my compressor today, yes probably the 'wrong' way... I have a few questions here now... first I had to change the top plate off of the replacement compressor I bought, the hose mount was different, on my 95 the hoses are slightly offset. Ok, do I need new seals on the hoses? Also will I have to take it to an air conditioning pro to get the atmospheric air I introduced into the system sucked out and a fresh charge and oil? Or can I do this myself? Fuse 18 I was my control panel dilema, it was blown and I replaced it. I get no codes, however my clutch hasn't spun on my new compressor yet... Thanks for any info...

If there is no gas in the system the compressor will not engage. The sensors will tell the PCM not to energize the clutch.
Yes new seals on the hoses are required. Some are flat and some are round, I forget what the 95 uses.
If you do not have a vacuum evacuation pump, gauges and Freon, you will need to have someone else evacuate the system and add the gas.

Thank you!
I took the car for a longer drive yesterday and I did get some flashing lights on the control. I will replace the seals and have the system professionally evacuated and charged. At least I can drive the car again.
