Default Down again

So, I cleaned up the car, after having it painted in July/August, loaded it up with some AR's, AK's, Sniper Rifles and was gonna head to the local Range to practice shooting Zombies, in case the Mayans are right,,,,

We load up, plug in some James Gang, back out of the driveway, and the I hear a "clack" noise once, My Favorite Martian antennae go up to full "what the crap was that" mode, and I drive for @ 1/8 mile and the oil pressure light comes on . I rev the car, no change my oil pressure was 35 psi now its 10-psi with no change when I rev it. So we drove back in, parked it, moved the guns and ammo to the GMC Terrain and went to the range where i took out my frustration on lots of paper Zombies

We all know what this means, I'm hoping the oil pump took a dump, or maybe the new FAST Distributor gear has an issue, either way, I'll be getting dirty this winter during the down time. I will pull the cam and go to a High TQ monster cam too because I'm tired of jacking with the fuel smell at idle and trying to tune it out.

Just another day in paradise

I know the feeling Buddy. In the 5 or so years I have owned my vette its down more than up. Its mostly my fault because I cant leave well enough alone. lets hope you are up and running again this spring.

My wife asked me when the Vette was going to be finished the other day. I said "never it's a project".

Exactly! I decided to leave it alone and get a newer Vette and then it rebelled and showed me who's boss

Sucks to hear Larry! Hopefully you can get it back up and running without too much frustration.

best of luck on the rebuild. My buddy (another Nam vet, tho he was a grunt and i was a door gunner) and I go down to Martinsville to shootum up paper zombies. I have a nice Russian SKS, 1954 ( I think), just dropped once. I am over Avon way.

Before you tear it down pull off a valve cover and then start the car. Are you getting plenty of oil to the lifters?

I had something similar happen, but my oil pressure was a big ZERO. Turned out a small piece of Teflon tape from somewhere got into the oil and plugged the hole in the oil pressure sensor.

Worth a quick check.

I haven't heard or thought of that phrase in years.....

You've been kicking this around for quite a while Larry, I guess this is a perfect reason to start. Still the same plan?

Hope it's not too bad...unless of course you need a good reason to do something drastic.

This was part of my motivation for going the direction I did.

I will put a mechanical gauge on it and check the drain holes etc first. If I have to take it out, I'll look into LS replacements, but I had hoped to wait till winter 2013 in order to study this.

I think its something simple, otherwise the pressure would not be steady at 10-psi, this weekend I'll look into it further, gotta put some stuff in the shed and get the christmas tree down, blah blah blah
