1984 crossfire- engine light on with no code given. smell electrical burning
I have a 1984 crossfire. The car has 73,000 miles and is in good condition. Today it was raining, which may have nothing to do with condition. car doesn't leak water inside, after a short trip across town the engine light started to dimly come on and go off, then i began to smell electrical burning from behind the dash. The smell lasted for about 2 minutes. After that the engine light got bright and stayed on fully lit. I did a code check and all that comes back is code 12, showing no code of fault recorded. Everything seems to be working fine. I can not see any evidence of visible burnt wiring. I have checked all the fuses and no problem there. I have tried to reset the ecm to turn off check engine light.
Has anyone else experienced this. My only educated guess is that the ecm unit has faulted to some degree and shorted out partially. Is there a way to diagnose it?
Thank you all for any input you may have.
I have noticed that now when I rev up the engine in park, as the rpm drop rapidly, it will kinda gurgle in the exhaust. almost a backfire.
I can drive the car normally and there has been no smell of electrical burning since the one time. the check engine light stay lit all the time now.
