RAio reception is terrible only when the car is running. If I turn the engine off the reception is much clearer and seems to come in better. Bose Gold serious with CD (that dont work). Want to keep it original. I checked the connection of the antenna in the CMU unit behind the passenger seat and all connections

Anyone else have this problem?
Solution?
Be a bit more specific. Is it AM or FM? Hard to pull station in or static?
Have you made any changes to the ignition system from the stock system?
Hard to advise without knowing what it exactly is.

Our Corvettes have a slight deficiency over metal cars -- they don't have the same size 'ground plane' for antenna systems. However, radio should still work 80%+ as good as most other cars. Mine works just a bit worse than my 96 Camry LE stock radio.
Check antenna unit from underneath driver side quarter-panel.
Check unit's bolts are tight and check grounding strap.
Also check antenna cable plug in rear compartment (behind trim panel just to driver side of middle).
Clean antenna itself while extended (wd40) and assure it's fully extended and each section is firmly connected to lower section when fully extended.

Thank You. How do I get to Antenna unit under driver side? Under the hood or up above tire behind quarter panel? Also I believe the antenna cable plugs into the Unit behind the passenger seat in the compartment where the scissor jack is kept. Are we speaking about the same year car? 1994?

Yes, 1994 coupe.
Antenna unit is in rear of car on driver side. I'm speaking of the actual antenna which is automatic and raises and lowers the shaft when the radio is turned on and then off up through the body of the car.
regarding where its coaxial cable plugs -- I might have my cars confused, so it might plug into something in that compartment behind the driver side -- might also depend on Bose radio or not. Either way, check its various connections, and disconnect and reconnect to freshen its contacts.

Correct, that is the tuner.

Correct
To remove the antenna top nut and bottom (ground) bracket need to be removed. To get to the bottom, the wheel splash shield needs to come off. I would check the ground strap there first. I think it would get grounded thru the coax shield also but cannot conform. The wiring comes thru a grommet at rear of car inside. You need to remove the rollup device, and I think some carpet and possibly the speaker enclosure unit. (been a while without looking at the book).
I still don’t know what the specific problem is?..

Static, but only when car is running. I am the 3rd owner but only had 47K miles on it when I bought it in 2012. As far as I know there has not been any s=changes to the ignition system. All is stock except I did find a small black box with an antenna attached. I found it in the area where the tuner is behind the passenger seat with the antenna just laying there across the compartments. I removed that unit and returned everything back to original as far as I can tell. They had tapped into the power lead in that area and gave the box it's own fuse. I will post some pics and hopefully someone can tell me that it was. There were some additional wires they ran to the front of the car to under the dash. I think it was the ground but I will take a look again when the weather permits. I am in Long Island NY
