93 started to run like crap
Thanks !
The thing about the optispark is its a good concept. Very accurate timing control (no base timing to go out of tune or anything like that). I've heard of people spinning it to 8000+ rpm and it still works (though the ecm computer needs upgraded beyond 7k from what I hear).
Only use acdelco new old stock optispark. Expensive, but I've heard total horror stories of the ebay cheapos. The part takes too much work to replace and is mission critical
If you put a new optispark in there, be sure to vent it so you attain the reliability of the 95 and 96 model year units.
If you buy a 95-96 cap. It has a vent hole in it to accept a vent harness. Put the vac line into the cap and the air input line into one of the 3 weeepholes (may need to drill the weephole out some). Block off the other two weepholes.
Essentially the vent keeps a gentle flow of air circulating through the optispark to remove any contaminants (carbon or water - from a broken seal).
Vent harness has a vaacuum linne, and air input line. It also has a flow reducer and check valve. These are still available. Someone should have the p/n
