Default Window regulator adjustment?

How do you adjust it,or do you have to replace the whole regulator?

The only way to adjust the glass is to get inside the door panel, find the mounts, stops and adjust up/down there, and rattle or looseness at the rattle pads along the top of the frame/seal. Sometimes the mounts get worn and loose and the whole mess has to come out. Theres a lot of plastic in there that eventually wears out. There were 2 types of regulators also..sissor and ribbon.

I recall something about a screw in the very bottom of the door panel, that was accessed thru a hole that you inserted an allen (?) straight up and ran that screw in/out to make the final glass height adjustment...not sure which units that applies to, so you might want to look along the bottom of your door for some kind of access hole.

The FSM has pretty good detail on this but I did not see this mystery adjusting screw in the bottom...that was rumor from somewhere. I've never looked.

My 85 was doing the same thing, after I upgraded to the newer style regulators. The FSM had adjustment procedures for the window glass. With just the door panel off, there were 4 bolts IIRC that I adjusted to make it perfect.

if the door panel hits the chassis when closed it has popped up and off the top ledge where the door panel hangs. Its famous for cracking there.

Yes again...there are about 4 bolts to work with. these are on the glass/regulator to move the leading edge up/down, same with the trailing edge of the glass. basically mounts. They have a bolt/screw that you run in/out to find the "sweet spot" where the glass fits the seal again. If you search YouTube I'd bet there is video on adjusting C4 door glass....
