After 3 years of using E85 in the 87 I switched back to premium. Reason is, its not available everywhere. Nearest pump is 6 miles away. Sometimes it cheaper to use. Sometimes premium is cheaper. Gas prices are crazy unpredictable. Anyway I like using it since its almost impossible to get spark knock with e85 in the tank. I could give the car a ton of spark advance. Good for gas mileage and bottom end torque. Not so good for traction. So its back to premium until the E85 is more available or a lot cheaper. Then its just a chip change and I can go back if I want.
Its not the same pump to pump. Not enough difference that it matters. I have a ZZ4. Miniram and aftermarket 180 heads. Its clean burning, I have about 30k miles on my sparkplugs and last time I looked they were very clean. Oil doesnt turn black. I do like it but its currently not worth the inconvenience. I can get 93 premium 2 blocks from home.
My 24# injectors were near maxing the duty cycle so I replaced them with bigger ones. I ran it several months with 24s though, no problem. I replaced the stock fuel lines under the hood with teflon core braided lines. Just didnt trust 23 year old stock ones. The stock rubber lines are still in use at the tank. The rest is in the tune.
I switched mine as well it's more octane for less cost! Have you thought of ordering a barrel? Or get some barrels and fill them up, use as needed. Just don't let them sit to long. I got a fuel tester from Summit it easily shows the E%.
Gary I just used injectors that flow more then did some computer tuning. A lot more fuel is used but it costs less. It's very clean!
Jack, as we speak, I have mine at a tuner now, hoping to be able to clean it up enough to pass emissions. I now have a 385 232-236 cam and 11.25 compression. Hope he can do it. Then I am going to switch back to the premium gas. He is burning 2 chips for me so I can switch back. BTW there is one e85 station in my area and its 20 or so miles away.
93 rag, we dont do smog here but it would be fun to see how the numbers look. My datalog numbers indicate a good burn. I am going to miss the sweet alky smell on cold mornings. I hate that smell with gas. Good luck at the smog check.
Jack, my tuner has a 5 gas? engine anlyizer and is going to use that to get it as clean as possible for the test. I think its at idle, 15mph and 25mph.

He should be able to do it. Be nice to see you do a thread with the results, if you can.
Alky is just bad if you binge on it! I haven't had any trouble, I did remember I do have an upgraded fuel pump. It's a Walbro 190 and before I had the 46 pound injectors I had some 32's that I ran very increased fuel pressure to get enough flow.
If you need help tuning let me know. Brian (bjankuski) also lives near to you and does tuning/dyno tunes.
