Because there aren't any rubber bushings left to buy.

People just don't understand how this works. When GM makes parts they always make about 20% extra for spares. When those spares are gone, that's it. There are no more. In some cases it can take many years to use up those parts (if they don't have much demand). Another thing that happens is that GM sells the older parts to clear out their warehouses. That's when companies like Vintage Parts come in and buy up those old parts.

There is no "they stopped making these parts" recently. They stopped making those parts 20+ years ago.

If you can't find a new version of the part you're looking for then the only option is to buy a used one. I just bought a used PCV hose for my car yesterday because there are no more new ones -- unless you find an eBay listing like this (check the price -- for a 6" hose!):

You need to have your NAPA guy supply you with a "dimensional" buyers guide changeover for metal clad suspension bushings. He should be able to supply that in metric. There should be hundreds. You very well could work with that and duplicate your needs. This it would seem as a possibility for the control arm 1 piece urethane units.

Also you can "build your own" polyurethane using DOM tubing, bulk bushings and inserts. Using this approach you should certainly be able to replicate an OE/ride or suspension equivalent. It's not as complicated as it might seem. It's done regularly in restoration projects. You need DOM or a tubing without a seam, the seam will tear up a bushing. The possibilities are endless. You can create your own suspension rigidity. FEY (Y-yours).
