Default rocker arm

My 1987 Corvette L98 has a rebuilt engine. It has about 10K on it. Several days ago I heard a “click, click, click” and then after some time, it ran like crap.

I thought it might be a broken valve spring. I pulled the valve covers and the problem is obviouos. The nut for the rocker arm is coming loose, the arm is 90 degrees off and the push rod ascrew. I think th fix is as simple as tightening the nut on the properly alligned pushrod and rocker arm.

QUESTION: What keeps this nut from coming loose again? Loctite? How can I make sure this does not happen again?? All the others look like they are good.

What cha think???

Factory SBC's used lock nuts to keep them from comming loose.... often times if the lash has been adjusted a bunch or those particular lock nuts have been thru a few engine rebuilds they can wear and come loose.

You can buy new ones rather cheaply.

Do you understand the proceedure to properly adjust the valve?
