I know I've asked before but still have not found a answer. My 95 stereo has delco speakers front and rear. The stereo is a delco bose with cd and tape. It does not have the amps on the speakers. The rear speakers work o.k. but sometimes cut in and out and the fronts barely make a sound, only highs. Where would the amps be for this delco set up? This car is all stock never changed ...Help
It is a Delco!!! Now how or can I restore sound to the system or should I just replace. I am a huge stock fan so don't want to take from that. Any ideas ? thanks Bruce
You may want to start at the very basic step and pull out a front speaker and check it independently. You can drive it from another source or check for basic resistance of the main speaker. If two speakers are used and it has a cross over with a capacitor, you may not have to isolate the speakers to get an accurate reading. Your target is the larger speaker.
You are probably looking for anything from 1 to 8 ohms. I say that because I don’t know the exact resistance of that speaker. You're looking for a catastrophic problem like an open voice coil which would be infinity ohms.
If the speaker is good, then check all your connections you can get at. You can tap the CDM box and see if the rear speakers cut off. Other than that you may need to send it out for repair if you don’t have the skill to work on the inside of the box yourself.
I've read your posts regarding speakers on the Bose, but am still somewhat confused. Where are the amplifiers on the Bose gold system. I have a rear speaker that makes a very loud hum when the radio is turned on. It comes only from the right rear speaker, I am told it needs a new or rebuilt amplifier, but I dont know exactly where to look for it. Can you help?

I have a similar problem. I am told I need a new amplifier as the rear speaker outputs only a loud hum or buzzing sound. If I turn the radio volume all the way up, the music overrides the hum. I dont have any idea where the amplifiers are.
I've been told that I have a bad speaker amplifier. I get a loud hum or buzz, really loud and sounds like a bass sub woofer when I turn the radio on. It works ok sometimes then other times it doesn't. Does this sound like an amplifier? Also, can the rear speaker amplifier be taken out without having to remove the carpet and the entire speaker box? I see 4 screws around the speaker itself, do these screws come out and allow the speaker to come totally out and can the amplifier be removed like this?
