I have always ran a MSD 6AL. It has a built in rev limiter that you can use as a secondary one or program your stock one out. From there you can hook up all kinds of things. A retard box for when you hit the juice for example.

You may want to look at the 6BTM (6462). Has an adjustable retard with a **** on the dash.

I really like my Digital 6Plus. Very easy to install. My factory tach works okay, it is a little behind the actual rpm's. I like the auto retard while cranking. After it fires up and hits 500 rpm's it automatically advances the timing. And it already has the two stage retard feature so you don't have to add anything when you put in NOX (not that I think you should do that to your engine, getting it hooked on drugs, shame on you).
