I have a 91 l98 coupe.
I've done a lot to bring this car back from where it was ... (abused, and one foot in the grave). Now I am at the point of the little nit pickey things. Like my cruise control.
Anyone seen any good articles on breaking the system down to test/repair each component? As far as I can tell right now... The whole thing is D.R.T. (dead right there) but I don't know for sure since I don't know yet how it all works together or how to test each part.
My issue was dry rotted lines. Specifically the ends that went into connectors were crumbling. I just replaced them. Two other places that I checked out were the disconnect switch on the brake pedal and the turn signal stalk on the column. I just replaced those because the parts were cheap but my cruise worked again after being out for years. Years ago I snagged a dealer copy for the repair of "Custom Cruise III Systems Service Manual" manual on Ebay. You may want to see if you can find one for your model year, mine is for 1984-85 and it breaks down every wire, connector, component and how to troubleshoot and diagnose everything in the system. You know where to look instead of looking and poking.
I don't know if anyone even has a copy of this manual SMCM-1B, it seems like it should copied and posted on the forum but I don't know how to do that. If anybody is interested in doing this I will work with you. Note this is not the Red FSM.
